W is 4 1/2 years old. He still doesn’t communicate well if he is upset or if it is after the fact.
Lately preschool has been commenting that W screams at the other kids. Now W has always had problems with other children but for them to just be commenting now after 8 months makes me think it has gotten worse.
Well this morning as i was dropping him off he started doing this blood curdling scream and then said “_____ is here”. Ok so he has a problem with this specific kid. I asked him why he doesn’t like ____ but of course if something has happened it is now after the fact so he can’t tell me.
I mentioned it to the teacher and suggested that the increase in screaming may be because of this child.
It’s frustrating. It’s like his mind can only focus on the present but he is affected by the past; yet his brain can’t seem to figure out how to verbally explain what has happened in the past that is affecting his present.
How do you teach that?
